William Blake Training and Development Community Support Services have developed and implemented an innovative and flexible model of working which underpins the organisation’s commitment to providing a wide range of training and on-going personal development opportunities that supports the transition between service provision into paid work in the form of:

  • Effective outcome focused Support Planning
  • Personal Development Plans that give focused support in transferable skills required in the workplace such as interpersonal skills, time keeping, attendance and the general ethos of work.
  • Developing C.V’s that demonstrate achievements, practical experience, knowledge and qualifications.
  • Supervision
  • Appraisal
  • West House is an approved assessment centre offering N.V.Q’s – in Horticulture, Catering, Customer Services etc.
  • Open College Network – 2 year “preparation for work course” – Communication, Assertiveness and Confidence building.
  • Adult Education Accredited Courses

Pathway to Independence for individuals with disabilities

Working together with Cumbria County Council’s Adult Education Services, West House have developed a series of courses aimed at encouraging people with disabilities on a pathway towards higher aspirations, self worth and a more independent lifestyle. These three year courses offer a tailored approach to accomodate specific individual needs. A wide range of opportunities and life experiences are on offer, that will promote greater independence and support self determination.
